Joetsu Biomass Recycling Business Cooperative

Realizing locally producing and consuming for energy and materials by methane fermentation of raw garbage, BDF (biodiesel fuel) conversion from waste cooking oils and other technologies

The city of Joetsu located in Niigata Prefecture is home to Kenshin Uesugi and a famous Takada Castle as the best three cherry blossoms spots in Japan.
In 2006, the Biomass Town Initiative was formulated with the aim of locally producing and consuming energy and material resources.
This biomass conversion facility was constructed by the Joetsu Biomass Recycling Business Cooperative as its core facility.

Contributing to regional revitalization and the prevention of global warming through the use of diverse biomass

Swing has been conducting research and development for more than 40 years on methane fermentation treatment for wastewater and organic waste, and has installed methane fermentation equipment not only to public facilities but also to a wide range of fields, including food and beverage factories.
The Joetsu Biomass Recycling Business Cooperative adopts methane fermentation technology for raw garbage.
The generated biogas and crushed unused thinned wood are used as heat sources for sewage sludge drying.
In addition to effectively using BDF which is refined from waste cooking oils, recovering biogas from methane fermentation using glycerin which is by-product, we had enabled to be effective utilization of biomass energy with high efficiency by combining multiple unused biomass.
